The monarchy of Alta Torrezon on the plane of Ixalan is ruled by the Legion of Dusk, which is comprised of many powerful vampires. On other planes in the multiverse, vampires are widely regarded as monsters and abominations; however, on Ixalan, the humans on the island of Torrezon view them as graceful and are deeply reverent of them. They believe the vampires have been bestowed a great gift of power and eternal life and have a profoundly religious connection to the Church of Dusk.

Vito Quijano de Pasamonte is a fanatical vampiric follower of the Church of Dusk, with a staunch and unbreakable belief in his religion. A menacing character, Vito wields the lance of Tarrian, a legendary vampire who was good friends with Saint Elenda, the first vampire on Ixalan.

STory

During the Phyrexian Invasion, Vito entered into a blood fast, and in his heightened state, he began receiving instructions from the bat god, Aclazotz. Aclazotz promised Vito that in exchange for his help, Aclazotz would start a new age on Ixalan, where the vampires would be at the height of their power and dominate the other races of the plane.

With fanatical determination, Vito set off on an expedition to Ixalan, followed by an army of Vampires, including Amalia Benavides Aguirre, Bartolomé del Presidio, and Clavileño. Guided by the journal of Tarrian, Vito discovered a way into Ixalan’s underground caverns using human sacrifices to open the ancient sealed doors.

Eventually, the vampire army happened upon Huatli and her band of warriors, and together, they found their way to the plane’s core. However, once inside the core, the people there welcomed Huatli but imprisoned Vito and his followers. Determined to fulfill his god’s will, Vito escaped his imprisonment and freed his people.

Finally discovering the location of Aclazotz, Vito freed the bat god, who in return blessed the vampires with demonic power. The vampires grew in size, developed bat-like wings, and immediately set upon the Oltec people. Aided by Huatli and her warriors, the Oltecs fought back against the vampires, losing many of their people, including Huatli’s cousin, Inti.

Huatli was eventually able to gain control of the lance of Tarrian and, using her rage and grief, stabbed it through Vito’s heart, killing him. With the death of their leader, the vampires were soon defeated, causing the bat god to flee the core. With the death of the bloodthirsty vampire, the possibility of peace with the vampires became a new possibility for Ixalan.
