Chenvaala Elementals - Battlegrounds

Don't give up, it can turn around in the blink of an eye!

I used to play Hearthstone on and off and took a pretty long break. Recently, Connor was telling me to check out Battlegrounds, as it is similar to a Magic the Gathering draft, which I enjoy immensely. It was pretty hard in the beginning not knowing what any of the creatures are and having such a short time between rounds, but so far I am enjoying it and slowly starting to recognize the cards.

After Quillboars were added, they were my usual go-to, but I am trying to learn how other types work and I've been having some success with Mechs and Elementals lately. I really didn’t know the abilities of the elementals, but using Chenvaala enabled me to focus on purchasing a lot of different elementals so that I could raise my tavern tier and learn how the elementals all work together.

Here is a deck that I won with using Chenvaala recently and really wanted to share, due to how bad the deck performed in the early game. I’m pretty sure I lost six matches in a row and was in last place for a majority of the game. Things started to turn once I got my second Molten Rock and a Party Elemental. Then I found my first Crackling Cyclone and things started to look a little better. I started to only lose by only one minion, and then started to get some draws.

By then I had a lot of gold and was able to cycle some Arcane Assistants and even some Stasis Elementals to be able to make some golden minions. All of the triggers from my golden Party Elemental and Molten Rock really started pushing up the power level of my team. By buying and cycling so frequently, Chenvaala discounted my tavern upgrades so much that I was level 6 way sooner than I ever had been. Things were turning around.

One of my golden minions earned me a Charlga, and another found me a Lil’ Rag. Then I ended up finding a second Charlga and I knew I now had a chance. I was in the top two with one Lieutenant Garr in play and one in my hand. The next combat was a draw, my opponent utilizing a powerful pirates deck. I was then able to search the tavern to find a 3rd Lieutenant, which would win the next combat and the game!

Overall, I learned that even if you are in last place for most of the game, things CAN turn around! All it takes is a little luck and knowing when to ditch cards in order to push your deck into the late game!
