Ask the AI: The Ten Best Magic Sets

Updated: May 5

Magic The Gathering’s 30-year history is full of awe-inspiring fantasy worlds that keep its players always coming back for more. Every player has their favorite Magic set, whether it’s the set you started with, a set with great Limited strategies, or even a set that reminds you of why you love Magic the Gathering. Whatever your reason, it would be difficult for the Magic community to choose ten sets that we all agree are the best. Good thing we have a robot to figure that out for us!

Remember, the AI only has data up to 2021, so any sets past that will not be considered for this list. Let’s Ask the AI!

1. Alpha (Limited Edition)

As the very first Magic set, Alpha introduced players to the game and established the foundation for its mechanics and card pool. It holds a special place in Magic's history.

2. Innistrad (Original Innistrad block)

Innistrad is highly regarded for its Gothic horror theme, rich flavor, and innovative mechanics. It introduced double-faced cards, which transformed the game and became a popular feature in future sets.
